Capuchin Monkeys

At Hillberry Farm our residence Capuchin Monkeys Kwango, Kirsty and Gucci have a new home. At the beginning of April they were relocated and now have a new home at the Monkey Sanctuary looe in Cornwall. www.monkeysanctuary.org Grant is very happy that they will have a wonderful new life and secure future.

Capuchin Monkeys come from the rain forests of South America, they are very highly intelligent and are often kept as pets in unsatisfactory conditions.

Their name is derived from the growth pattern of hair on the top of the head which resembles the sharp pointed ‘Capuche” or hood warn by the capuchin order of monks.

Today you need to have a Dangerous Wild Animal License to keep a Capuchin Monkey that involves your local environmental heath to inspect where and how you are going to keep you monkeys. They also appoint a vet to check you are providing all the correct conditions to house your monkeys, including their diet.

Monkeys should always be kept in pairs or in groups and Monkeys DO NOT make good pets, they are WILD animals
